Flexible's Adventures I, The Horse Show in Ireland.

Once upon a time, there was a silver Bay Mustang horse named "Flexible."  Flexible lived in a really cool, new barn in England.

Once when Flexible was out in the pasture, she heard someone singing. Suddenly, a fairy flew out of the bushes, right up to her.  "Flexible," she said, "Do you want to go on an adventure with me to Ireland?" "Sure," Flexible said, "I'd LOVE to!"

Then, the fairy said, "Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Samantha, the show horse fairy. There is a horse show in Ireland, and I'd like you to come. You look like the perfect show horse!"

The next day, Samantha showed up in the pasture again. "How about we pack up for our adventure now. We can leave tomorrow." "Sure," said Flexible. So, with a wave of her wand, Samantha made Flexible fairy size, and took Flexible to fairy land so they could pack up their things.

"Hi, King Orbion and Queen Tatiana," Samantha said as she curtseyed to them.  "This is Flexible. I want to take him to Ireland to enter the national horse jumping competition," introduced Samantha.

"I'd like Flexible to meet Penny the Pony fairy," Samantha said, pointing to a beautiful fairy with golden hair, two piggy tails, and a bronze cowgirl vest. Penny had on blue jeans tucked into black boots with a twinkling pink wand. "This is Sparkle, Penny's pony," pointed out Samantha. Samantha pointed to a beautiful white pony with a silver mane and tail, combed to perfection.

"Can you help us pack up for Flexible's trip?" whispered Samantha to Penny.  "We can take the pony trailer," said Samantha. "Sure, you can also take Sparkle. Sparkle can help Flexible if he gets in trouble," said Penny. "Great!" said Samantha.

"OK, Flexible. Let's go to Penny's secret pony place to get your supplies," said Samantha.  Penny and Samantha led Flexible to a tiny cabinet in the back of the crowd of fairies.

Penny pulled out a leather bag.  "Flexible, would you like to have some food for the trip? I have a little extra from Sparkle's early breakfast. I'm sure he'll share!" indicated Penny. "Sure," said Flexible. "I'm sure I'll be hungry during the trip to Ireland." Next, Penny pulled out a little jar. "You may need some extra magic. I have this jar of pony magic that can help you during the competition" she said. "OK," said Flexible. "All my life, I've dreamed of being a magical pony. I've heard all about unicorns and Pegasuses." So, Penny packed the magic jar into a little green backpack with all of Flexible's other necessities.

"Now that we're done packing, let's go to the magical pony trailer," said Samantha. "Let our adventures begin!" "Wait," said Penny, "Can I come?" "Sure," said Samantha, "Come on!"

Into the trailer they went.  Penny put little socks on Flexible's legs. "These are to make sure you don't get hurt if there's a bump," she said. Then, Penny waved her wand and a red halter appeared in her hands.  She snapped it on to Flexible's muzzle, and clipped chains to the halter. "These will prevent you from sliding back and forth. They will hold you sturdy in one place," she said. Then Samantha plopped into the driver seat, and Penny flew down beside her. Off they went.

After a little while of driving, Samantha said, "I'm hungry. Do you think we should get ourselves some food, and give some to Flexible too?" "Yes," said Penny. Penny waved her wand and two green paper bags appeared in Samantha's hands. One of the bags said "Penny."  She handed that one to Penny.  And the one that said, "Samantha," she kept for herself. She handed an apple back to Flexible.

When they arrived in Ireland, they took a taxi to the horse show.  It begins tomorrow, but they wanted to be there a day early to get ready.

Suddenly, they saw a judge running. Samantha and Penny waved their wands over themselves, and they were no longer fairy size.  And, their wings disappeared. They quickly tucked their wands in the pocket of the black leather coats they were wearing. But, they still had to make Flexible big too.  "Quickly," Samantha told Flexible, "Hide in my pocket. We'll go to the stables, then I'll turn you back to real size."

Samantha and Penny ran through the windy, cold evening to the stables.  When they got to the cozy stables, Samantha and Penny got into an empty stall. Samantha got Flexible out of her pocket. He trotted on her hand, while Penny waved her wand over him.  Suddenly, he was big again.

Penny asked a judge, "Can I please ride in the horse show?" "Sure, if you have a horse," said the judge. "Sure I do! His name is Flexible." "Great," said the judge. "You better get him ready for the show. The competition is tomorrow!"  Penny and Flexible headed into the arena to practice.

Once practice was done, Penny waved her wand and a green paper bag appeared in her hand.  It said, "Penny and Flexible."  Penny took out an apple and a ham and tuna sandwich. She gave Flexible the apple, and ate the ham and tuna sandwich herself. "Yum," she said after she ate the last piece of ham, gobbling it up.

The day of the horse show finally arrived. When it was their turn, Penny told Flexible, "Wait. I have once last piece of magic for you. It's the magic that you will have invisible wings, that are silent too. You'll fly over the jumps so that you don't knock anything down, and win first place. I just need to make sure I don't fall off." Then, Penny kicked him in the side, and he cantered into the ring.

"Where's Samantha?" Penny asked Flexible before they began.  Flexible remembered the magic and sniffed at Penny's green backpack. "Oh, the magic. You need the magic to talk!" Penny took out the jar and sprinkled some magic dust on Flexible. "Samantha's in the bathroom," said Flexible. "I think she just came out, and is talking to the judge to see if she can watch."

"Seat 54," the judge said, handing Samantha a piece of paper. Samantha handed him money for the ticket.

The first jump was pretty easy. It was only three poles high.  The second and third ones were higher. But, Flexible flew over those too, without knocking down any poles.  Then, the final jump. It was eight to ten poles high! But, he flew over that one too. At the end, the judge announced, "Flexible, that amazing horse. He went over all the jumps without knocking any poles down. He even made it over that last jump, which was ten poles high!"

"Flexible, you won!" Penny said, as she galloped with him over to the winner's stand and grabbed the trophy. "I knew you were going to win. I knew you were a great horse the first time I saw you in fairy land."

"Oh-oh, where's Samantha?" Penny said, turning to empty seat 54 in the stands. "Samantha went to the coffee stand to get some coffee. Look, there she is," Flexible said pointing his hoof to Samantha.

"Samantha!" Penny cried. "We won first place!" "I see," said Samantha. "You were very good at riding. Let's get Flexible back to his family now. They must be wondering where he is." "Don't worry," Penny said, "I put a magical spell on them so they would sleep until her returns." "Great, the trailer's ready," said Samantha. "Let's go back to merry ole England."

And they all ate an apple on the way home, except Flexible, who had carrots instead.

The End.

Epilogue.

Flexible landed in England safe and sound. As she left, Samantha whispered that she'd return to take Flexible on another adventure soon - a race in New York.
